June 2013 Update

Well here we are around half way through our sabbatical and learning how to manage our time without the regular pattern of church life. It has seemed very strange and something of a challenge to find the right balance between addressing the need to prepare for the future and yet enjoy the present. With God’s grace we will learn!

June began for us with a very busy schedule on our mission to Athens. Our first meeting was for pastors and church leaders on Thursday 30th May. We were so blessed by their passion and hunger for the Lord. We ministered on the three key elements of leadership namely Call, Character and Competence.  This was well received and we have been asked to continue to teach on leadership as part of our next visit

The first weekend of the mission saw us leading two Father Heart seminars , the first on Saturday evening and the second on Sunday evening. These were held at the  Filipino River of Grace church hosted by Pastor Jonathan.  Folk from a number of different churches attended and found great release through the Word and through the Spirit.

On the Sunday morning we were invited to minister at God’s Love church, a Greek Pentecostal church in the centre of Athens with pastors Dimitris and Sophia Athanasopoulos and family. They are an amazing family and doing a great work for the Lord right in the heart of the city.  They not only have a vision to reach thousands throughout Greece with the good news of Jesus, they also have a realistic strategy. We are excited about working with them in the future.

We took some well deserved rest on the Monday and Tuesday with an amble through the centre of Athens on the Monday and a visit to Corinth on Tuesday.

During the second half of our mission we spent time with some key Greek pastors and continued to build our friendship with our Filipino links.

Jane was invited to speak at the Filipino Christian Women of Greece conference on the Friday evening which was a wonderful experience for all concerned with great freedom released to these precious women of God.

On Saturday evening we both ministered at a revival meeting at River of Grace church where Jane also preached on the Sunday morning.  Having finished her meeting she was driven across the city to another meeting where I was due to minister in the afternoon. She arrived just as the meeting was about to begin, Well driven Pastor Jonathan!

The afternoon meeting was at the River of Life church with Pastor Nida and Pastor Riki. What an amazing sense of God’s presence as the worship team led us into the throne room.  We were asked to speak on the subject of marriage and to share some testimony of our own 45 year journey.  We were so humbled at the number of couples who came forward for prayer and who were so impacted by the Grace of God.

After a short break for some wonderful food we were driven back across the city for the last of our meetings on this trip. Again this was listed as a revival meeting and we experienced a great presence of the Holy Spirit and a real sense of the beginnings of a stirring of the Holy Spirit as we prayed and prophesied over this ancient city.

We look forward to continuing to serve the Body of Christ in Athens in whatever way we can. We have a visit planned for February 2014 but have been requested to return sooner.

The second half of June was planned as holiday but ended up catching up on admin, tackling the long overdue work in the garden and helping one of our sons to refurbish his London flat. All good stuff.

I did manage to get in some training runs in my kayak and begin a rigorous fitness programme in preparation for the Devizes to Westminster Kayak marathon next Easter.

We thank you all so much for your prayer support during our mission to Athens and we list below our programme for July. Please do continue to pray for us that we will know the leading of the Lord as we plan our next season.

I will continue to serve as regional co-ordinator for the Met West region, a role which I will be able to develop as we hand over leadership of CCF in August.

Prayer Points

Please support us in prayer as we transition into the next phase of our lives and ministry. The main points over the next couple of months are as follows:-

  1. Smooth transition for all at CCF
  2. For the right doors to open for us at Living Stones Ministries.
  3. For finances to support the “mission” ministry of LSM.
  4. For continued anointing
  5. For continued good health and energy.

Financial Support

We believe the Lord has called us into this next chapter of our ministry not only to help established churches and leadership teams but also to partner with pioneers who are breaking new ground for the Kingdom Of God. To do this we need some financial support beyond our current resources. If you feel you can support either on a regular basis or as a one off gift please contact us and we will let you have the details of how you can do this.

Living Stones Ministries operates under the Elim Charity number 251549
